End of an Era

In case anybody still comes to this web site...

It's over. No more bloggage from me. I've moved on, gotten busy, found other interests, whatever you want to call it.

This will be the last blog entry of the Dogoon era. Thanks for visiting.

For those that I keep in touch with, email me instead.

Take care.

New Entries on the "Least favorite chores list"

  • Anything to do with removing wallpaper.
  • Anything to do with prepping a room for painting.

On a side note, yes the wedding was fab and the honeymoon was excellent.

    Tribute to New Orleans

I seem to always be late on these, but here goes..

I can only look at the aftermath pictures and video footage of hurricane Katrina in disbelief. Makes my minor basement flooding of a few weeks ago seem extremely trivial.

I had the privilege of visiting New Orleans back in 2003. It was an interesting town with great music, good food and lots of character. Sad to see it in such a state. I hope lives, buildings and infrastructure can be restored and revived, and that the magic that the city has doesn't go away.

    Adventures in Homeowning

Some things, you just don't know until you try.

Adding to the list of things I really suck at: Calking.

Things I am surprisingly good at: Ripping up and removing carpet.

Another fun fact - wet soggy carpet smells bad and weighs a ton. Ew.

Things you learn as a homeowner ... part of an ongoing series

    1. I'm getting REALLY sick of Canadian Tire.

(on the bright side, they do have an excellent return policy.)

Yet another chapter in the "you get what you pay for" files

Ah, the joys of home ownership. So I'm replacing the locks and I purchase a less expensive lock. It's in several pieces and fairly complex to assemble. After two hours of fumbling, cursing and mangling, the lock does not want to work. I finally call it quits and head back to the store to replace it. Lock #2 is higher quality, and about $25 more expensive. It's also in fewer pieces and more idiot proof. Total installation time? About 5 minutes. In the future would I look for this brand? Most definitely.

I'm not going to name names, but let me just say "Yale no, Schlage yes!". Oh, I guess I did name names. Well, the people have a right to know.

    Counter-Productive?

Is it wrong to be eating potato chips while watching Jamie's School Dinners?

What will they think of next?

New product I came across today: Gummy Bear multivitamins.

What an awesome idea! Where were these when I was a kid?? I could be 2 inches taller!
